AAALAC International and the IQ Consortium are pleased to announce “The 2017 Global 3Rs Awards Program” and we need your assistance in spreading the word about this exciting program.

The Global 3Rs Awards program recognizes significant innovative contributions toward the 3Rs of animal research to advance ethical science by any researcher (nominated author, principal investigator, or research team leader), in academia or industry in any area of biology (e.g., basic science, discovery, development, teaching, testing, manufacture for new medicines, vaccines, medical devices or healthcare products for humans and animals).

Up to Four Global Awards (North America, Europe, Pacific Rim, and the Rest of World) will be presented in 2017 in the amount of $5,000 (USD). Award nominations should be based on any primary research paper that advances any of the 3Rs (i.e., the Refinement, Replacement or Reduction of animal use) and is published in a peer-reviewed journal in the last three years. These may include modifications to existing research techniques or any innovative research approach including, but not limited to: improvements to whole-animal models, tissue-based models (e.g., cell lines, tissue cultures), molecular techniques (e.g., proteomics), analytic and computational models, study design or technique refinements (e.g., sampling technologies, improved test methods), and translational medicine applications.

The application deadline is June 23, 2017.  For more information on the Global 3Rs Awards Program and the application materials, go to: www.aaalac.org/news/Global-3Rs-Awards.cfm.

Attached is a flyer, web graphic and the text from the flyer is pasted below.  Please feel free to use these materials to announce this program to your organization’s membership.  If there are any additional tools we can provide, please let us know.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!
